🔥 Welcome to PLG Recap of TheProductLed 🔥

I spend all week deep diving into the best PLG LinkedIn posts so you don't have to. Here are some of my favorites!

1️⃣ Elena Verna

Strategy or Tactic? Strategy and Tactics

Growth lever = Acquisition, retention, & monetization

Summary

  • Elena provides examples and clarity for the "quest for PLG" by separating the growth model vs growth tactics. We must know the difference!

  • If product users refer other users to the product, is that part of the model, or is that a tactic? Model

  • "Growth is evolution, not revolution" as Elena simply puts it

2️⃣ Yaakov Carno

Strategy or Tactic? Tactic

Growth lever = Retention

Summary

  • Onboarding experiences are the most important input to retention

  • Yaakov shares his perspective on how to improve onboarding by "recognizing your user's concern"

  • Showing our users all of the features could be just as bad as showing no features

3️⃣ Dave Boyce

Strategy or Tactic? Strategy

Growth lever = All motions and levers

Summary

  • Dave coming in hot with a PLG formula to help build into a business

  • As growth leaders, we should and need to know who and what the ICP, JTBD, MMF, MVP, and GTMF looks like

  • PLG takes at least 2 years

4️⃣ Leah Tharin

Strategy or Tactic? Strategy and Tactics

Growth lever = All levers

Summary

  • Leah drew a Miro diagram of how product managers, data, eng, and growth teams should work together

  • Old way of working together: marketing, sales, and product are in silos

  • New way: the growth team together has full journey ownership of acquisition, retention, and monetization

5️⃣ Nevo Alva

Strategy or Tactic? Strategy

Growth lever = All levers

Summary

  • Nevo stresses the importance of building community around people, not brands

  • I love this framing. It makes me think about how to instrument community-led growth differently.

  • Building loyalty is about empowering your users to be community leaders

  • Treat your community like a product, not a marketing channel
